Today, HRC (Human Rights Campaign) and GLAAD, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance against Defamation, each spoke out against an alleged homophobic rant by comic actor Tracy Morgan.
HRC:
Homophobic rant dangerous with impactful consequences for America's youth
WASHINGTON – The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) – the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization – today issued the following statement regarding allegations that 30 Rock star and comedian Tracy Morgan launched an anti-gay rant during a recent stand-up routine in Nashville.
“Hateful remarks that mock youth suicides and the very real emotional and sometimes physical bullying LGBT kids face on a daily basis have no place in a comedy routine,” said HRC Vice President of Communications, Fred Sainz. “I’m shocked that Tracy Morgan would find humor in so viciously attacking our youth. If these allegations are true, Tracy Morgan must immediately accept responsibility and apologize. His employer, NBC Universal, also must come forward and condemn these atrocious comments.”
According to an audience member in a June 4 show, the anti-gay rant included a line where Morgan said if his son came out to him, he would pull out a knife and stab him to death.
The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against LGBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.
"Tracy Morgan's management needs to investigate these allegations and should they prove true, we call on him to remove these violently anti-gay remarks from his show and send a strong message that anti-gay violence is not something to joke about," said GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios. GLAAD is working to confirm the story with Morgan’s management and hopes to have more details today.
The alleged remarks included that if his son were gay he “better talk to me like a man and not in a gay voice or I'll pull out a knife and stab that little n**ger to death." He also allegedly aid that "Gays need to quit being p**sies and not be whining about something as insignificant as bullying." He allegedly added, "Gay is something that kids learn from the media and programming."
For once I agree with GLADD.....This hack is NOT funny and never has been. 30-rock would be just perfect without him.

My outrage is not about the homophobic joke, but rather to the joke advocating violence to a child. Where is the outrage against violence towards helpless children. Gay or straight, we should all be outraged by this.
