Gallery | Teri Williams, Michael Rajner honored at Equality Florida annual Broward awards reception

Equality Florida, the state's largest gay-rights group, on Sunday honored two Broward LGBT community leaders, Broward Schools educator Teri Williams, and HIV/AIDS activist Michael Emanuel Rajner.

Above, Wilton Manors Vice Mayor Tom Green, Rajner, Tobias Packer of Equality Florida, Williams and Broward-based diversity trainer De Palazzo, who founded GLSEN Fort Lauderdale.

The evening raised more than $260,000 for Equality Florida, according to Executive Director Nadine Smith.

Here are details of the reception posted late Sunday by Smith to the Equality Florida blog:

A record crowd raises $260,000+ for LGBT rights at Broward Gala. The fired up crowd included dozens of key elected officials and community leaders from the School Board to Congress. The evening was a fundraiser for Equality Florida Institute and a night to honor Teri Williams and Michael Rajner for their work ending bullying and securing equal rights for LGBT Floridians. The evening comes on the heels of a tremendous victory for equality in Broward- passage of an Equal Benefits Ordinance that requires companies doing business with Broward to provide the same benefits to domestic partners that are given to married couples.
