(Tampa) - With the Republican National Convention in full swing, Young Conservatives for the Freedom to Marry and Log Cabin Republicans will be running an ad in Wednesday's Tampa Tribune calling on the GOP to support the freedom to marry for gay and lesbian couples.

marriage adThe full-page color ad, featuring photos of same-sex couples and their families, emphasizes that the freedom to marry is fully consistent with principles valued by conservatives: freedom, personal responsibility, and the importance of family. The ad comes in the wake of the party's extreme stance on marriage in its draft platform, which includes support for a federal constitutional amendment banning the freedom to marry for same-sex couples.  Tony Perkins, the president of the anti-gay Family Research Council, authored the marriage plank, which is expected to be ratified at the convention.

"Gay or straight, Republicans are united in the belief that strong families are critical to a free society," said R. Clarke Cooper, Executive Director of the Log Cabin Republicans. "As fellow conservatives, Log Cabin Republicans actually agree with Tony Perkins about the importance of family values. The difference is, we believe that the freedom to marry is directly in line with the core ideals and principles of the Republican Party - less government, more individual freedom, personal responsibility and the importance of family."

"The writing is on the wall for the Republican Party: Stand up for the values they say they believe in, or risk being seen as irrelevant with younger conservatives," said Sarah Longwell, Vice President at Berman and Company and a member of the Young Conservatives for the Freedom to Marry leadership committee. "This is a party that should support freedom - for all people, and all families."

The ad reads:

"The Institution of marriage is the foundation of civil society. Its success as an institution will determine our success as a nation."
Tony Perkins, Family Research Council, GOP Platform

We agree. That's why Log Cabin Republicans and Young Conservatives for the Freedom to Marry believe that government should stop denying marriage licenses to committed gay and lesbian families. As conservatives, we believe that the freedom to marry is directly in line with the core ideals and principles of the Republican Party.

Family values means valuing ALL families.

Young Conservatives for the Freedom to Marry is hosting a complimentary brunch at the convention today, in partnership with Log Cabin Republicans. The program will be MC'ed by Margaret Hoover, a political strategist and CNN contributor who also is a member of the Young Conservatives for the Freedom to Marry leadership committee. Andrew Langer, the president of the Institute for Liberty, will also speak.

Romney told Americans to look at his experience at Bain as proof of him being better on the economy. That turned out to be a bad idea. Now he wants Obama to apologize for using the Bain off shoring of jobs against him. OUch! Oh poor Mitt Flop! How are you going to flip out of this one? Question for Mitt "Let Detroit Fail" Romney:

How is a giving tax cut to a Wall Streeter who peddles exotic financial derivatives creating jobs for America?

Look, Jon Huntsman called him the well-lubricated weathervane. Rick Perry, among others, has called him a vulture. More than one senior figure in his party has accused him of lying. Several GOP primary opponents said he cheated in dirty campaign ads. A growing list of Republicans have called on him to disclose his tax returns. Primary opponents warned he could be hiding harmful truths therein. His own staff called him the Etch A Sketch candidate. These are serious charges. They come from Republicans.

Quick Mitt! Move to China, where you still have friends. After all, you did give em our jobs!

No but really America. It's time we get up, listen up and grow up. This election is very important.

If you have Social Security, Medicare, the right to vote, the right to an education, a clean park or a lake near you or an FDIC insured place to put your money. If you were given a disability check or a wheel chair ramp into the store you buy your food, if you like safe bridges, clean drinking water, clean air and a nontoxic environment, if you feel safe when you fly, or eat out, or give your child a toy, then it's time you give liberals and "regulations" the credit they deserve.

President Obama's record:
Saved the US economy from collapse.
Saved the US auto industry
Reformed healthcare bringing coverage to people with preexisting conditions.
Stood up bravely for the gay community.
Ended the war in Iraq.
Helped bring down Qaddafi in Libya.
Killed Bin Laden.

Barrack Obama isn't perfect, but he is a thousand times the man Romney will ever be. This time around, Obama and Democrats get my vote, the choice is simple.

For the love of country and all people; register to vote and vote as much as you can!

"For the love of country and all people"

This should be the exact phrase that gets Obama elected. Romney has made is bed. He stood silently while the extremest in his party trash our rights and threaten civil war. Standing by such hate is standing up for such hatred.

If you love America and all that it could be. You CAN'T VOTE FOR ROMNEY

Tony Perkins/Family Council are modern day Pharisee's. We are not a theocracy but a representative democratic republic. I want government out of my religion and I want religion out of my government. We are fast approaching a Christian Sharia law status. If you don't believe in gay marriage don't marry someone gay. If you don't believe in abortion then don't have one. Gay marriage does not impact my marriage and a woman choosing to have an abortion is her choice not mine. God is judge not religious groups.

The Log Cabin Republican activist group, along with GOProud, are not going to win a significant number of new votes for the Republican Party. Honestly, there are many millions of Americans who value the one and only form of "marriage" as it has been accepted for thousands of years--the sacred union instituted by God between a man and a woman. Some so-called "moderates" or RHINOs may have bought into this gay agenda, long a priority of the Left, but the vast majority of Republicans abide strictly by the party platform. We have serious economic and social problems in America, and it's clear that Barack Obama's administration has continuously pandered to the HRC and other gay political groups, who of course ensure that millions of dollars flow into his campaign coffers. I shudder to think how the Founding Fathers, deeply religious men, would react to witness the corruption of today's American society.
