Miami-Dade County hosted first All-Star volleyball match in seven years

            The Miami-Dade County Senior All-Star Game was held last week at Ferguson High. The teams were coached by Falcons’ coach Gregory Shanower and Julie Doan, Westminster Christian’s coach.

Shanower’s team won the best-of-three match 25-22, 18-25, 15-8. It was the first time since 2010 that an All-Star game was played in Dade.

The players that participated were – Ferguson’s Michelle Cuervo, Alexandra Gonzalez and Kassandra Lopez, Palmer Trinity’s Daniela Diaz, Ashley Quero and Juliette Hamilton, Southwest’s Annabel Fernandez and Jocelyn Garcia, Miami Beach’s Nicole Goetz, Gulliver’s Sarah Lobo, Lourdes’ Alexandra Peterson, TERRA’s Elyse Anaya, Florida Christian’s Brittany Beckelheimer, Westminster Christian’s Nikkia Benitez, Quinn Blanco, Gabrielle Miller and Sophia Poveda, MAST’s Mia Boloix, Palmetto’s Julia Decker and Ashley Thompson, Carrollton’s Gabriela Socarras.
