ICA Miami Makes Splashy Art Basel Debut

By Ricardo Mor

Hoping to kick off its inaugural year with a bang, the Institute of Contemporary Art Miami hosted a marathon bash that was planned to take place over seven hours with three separate events including the prestigious Interview magazine party.

Guests marveled at the mammoth exhibition of works by installation and sculpture artist Andra Ursuta whose haunting works are nestled along the geometric columns of the museum's atrium. Perhaps it was the bountiful amounts of booze available but guests particularly loved Pedro Reyes' "Sanatorium", an interactive installation that has visitors engaging with volunteer therapists in a series of therapeutic exercises including taking a "vaccine" against violence (which is much needed for those who endured the horrific Midtown traffic to arrive at the party).
