The Miami Dade County Commission will honor one of the city’s most creative visionaries, the late Tony Goldman, during Miami Art Week.
Goldman, a pioneer who helped establish Wynwood as one of the world’s most exciting arts destinations, will be memorialized with the renaming of the heart of Wynwood, 20th St. to 29th St. on NW 2nd Ave. as Tony Goldman Way.
A ceremony will take place at the corner of NW 2nd Ave. and 26th St. at 5 p.m. Participants will include Wynwood BID Director, Tom Curitore, Miami Dade County Commissioner Audrey M. Edmonson, whose District 3 encompasses Wynwood and the Goldman family. At that time, the newly installed street sign will be unveiled, and the Goldmans will be presented with a replica of the sign.
Also expected to attend are Miami Dade Commissioner Marc Sarnoff (District 2) City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado, Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine and members of the City of Miami and City of Miami Beach Commission
At 6 p.m. the Wynwood Walls will open doors for a VIP invitation-only event, to celebrate new art created by international street artists for Art Basel entitled The Art of Collaboration.
