Rosa Madruga named director of operations for the Miami-Dade County Youth Fair & Exposition

Rosa-MadrugaRosa Madruga has been named director of operations for the Miami-Dade County Youth Fair & Exposition. She will oversee all operations, maintenance, preventive maintenance, repair, warehousing and capital projects for The Youth Fair and Expo Center events. Most recently, she was the facilities coordinator. Madruga is a graduate of Miami Senior High School. 

Best advice she ever received: “The best advice I have received is to have a positive outlook on every aspect of life. When I’m faced with a challenge, I always see a solution and I try to learn from it. Having a positive attitude also helps people around you have confidence in themselves and makes the team feel stronger.”

Wendy Paige named director of sales for Devonshire at PGA National

Wendy Paige was recently named director of sales for Devonshire at PGA National, an Erickson Living retirement community, in Palm Beach Gardens. Before, she was sales and marketing director at the Prosperity Oaks senior living community in Palm Beach Gardens. She has a bachelor’s of fine arts from from the University of Denver with an emphasis in graphic design and marketing.

Kim Butler has been named vice president, marketing and communications at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau.  Before, she was director of communications at the New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority in Atlantic City. Howard Lewkowitz, M.D., is chief of medical staff at Broward Health Imperial Point

Howard Lewkowitz  has been named the chief of medical staff at Broward Health Imperial Point, where he has run his practice for the past 14 years. Lewkowitz attended SUNY Stony Brook and Emory University School of Medicine. He completed a fellowship in gastroenterology from Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and his internal medicine residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Rodolphe el-Khoury named dean of the University of Miami School of Architecture,

El-KhouryRodolphe el-Khoury has been named dean of the University of Miami School of Architecture effective July 1. He currently is director of urban design at the University of Toronto’s Daniels Faculty and is a partner in the design firm Khoury Levit Fong. He received a doctorate in philosophy and a master’s in architectural history from Princeton University, and also has a master’s in architecture studies from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s in architecture and fine arts from Rhode Island School of Design.

Crocker names Fred Taeger, Josh Edwards to executive positions

Crocker Partners in Boca Raton has named some new executives, including Fred. W. Taeger as director of financial reporting and Josh Edwards as vice president, regional asset manager for North and Central Florida. Taeger, a CPA, was an audit senior manager with Deloitte & Touche LLP. He has bachelor’s degrees in accounting and finance from Florida State University. Edwards was a vice president at Wells Fargo. He has a bachelor’s from the University of Florida and an MBA from Emory University.

Marielena DeSanctis named VP for student affairs and Broward College

Marielena DeSanctis was recently appointed vice president for student affairs and enrollment at  Marielena-DeSanctisPh.D.-2947891-220Broward College. Before, she was executive director of curriculum, instruction and interventions for Broward County Public Schools. She also has been a math and science teacher, assistant principal at South Plantation High School, and principal at Fort Lauderdale High. DeSanctis has a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a master’s in educational leadership and administration from Nova Southeastern University, and a doctoral degree in educational leadership and administration from Florida Atlantic University.

Best advice she ever received: Dr. Joel Herbst, associate dean of the College of Education at Florida Atlantic University, said, “An engineering degree and a Ph.D. in leadership will not get you anywhere if you do not authentically value, support and serve the people you work with.”
