Marla Wilson has been named executive director, Tracy Wilson-Mourning’s Honey Shine Mentoring Program. This nonprofit organization, based in Miami, was created to provide young girls with opportunities and experiences that will help them grow into confident, productive and socially aware citizens. Before, she was the business development consultant for 1 Percent Circle, the consulting group she founded based in Atlanta. Clients included the National Black College Hall of Fame, Wells F argo, and the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority. She has a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Central Oklahoma, where she studied broadcast and print journalism
Best advice: The best advice that she has ever received was from her grandmother: “Respect who you are when nobody else is watching.” Wilson says this is basically a lesson in integrity. You have to be happy with who you are and what you do, regardless.
