U.S. Rep. Jim Davis' campaign for governor has won over all seven of the Haitian-American Democratic officials representing Miami-Dade, noted North Miami Council Member Jacques Despinosse.
Despinosse made the observation at a Davis campaign event Monday with about 15 black elected officials, political activists and religious leaders.
"We believe in his campaign,'' said Despinosse. "We need someone like him in Tallahassee who we can pick up the phone and call.''
Davis' opponent in the Democratic primary, Rod Smith, also points to endorsements from Miami-Dade's black community, including U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek.
