Democratic activist Agustin "Gus" Garcia is in DC today to bestow the inaugural El Cid award to Sen. Bob Menendez, D-New Jersey.
The award, "representing courage in public service on issues benefiting the Latino community" will be given by the Lambda Theta Phi Foundation (the nation’s oldest Latino fraternity). Menendez will be recognized for his aggressive stance on immigration reform "in the face of strong opposition."
Garcia, the chairman of the Lambda Theta Phi Foundation and founding father of Lambda Theta Phi fraternity, has known Menendez since the two were teens in New Jersey.
