Dear Governor, take a pay cut

Among the dozens of amendments that have been filed for Wednesday's action on the state budget, Sen. Mike Fasano has filed one that would actually cut the salary now paid to Gov. Charlie Crist, Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp, Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink, Attorney General Bill McCollum, and Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson.

Under Fasano's amendment, Crist's salary would go from nearly $133,000 to $119,638, a 10 percent drop while the other Cabinet officials would see their salary reduced from $131,604 to $118,444. Fasano's amendment would also reduce the amount of money provided for legislative salaries as well and would redirect a total of $586,426 to early learning programs.

(UPDATE: The Senate passed Fasano's amendment with no debate.)
