Gov. Charlie Crist has intervened in the train wreck over the Orlando commuter rail and negotiated a compromise to establish a two-week gas tax this summer in exchange for attaching the $450 million CSX deal to a mega-transportation bill pending in the Senate. Watch for SB 682 for the action. More to come.
"I would love to see both,'' Crist said, shortly after attending Rubio's farewell speech. "I know the people need a tax cut and a cut in their gas taxes would be a great thing for them and I would like to see commuter rail -- try to unclog those arteries as much as we can, get a few trucks off the road.''
He said he's been working to "trying to shake this thing free.''
