Wexler: Investigate State Farm's "outrageous and improper" rate hike

Robert Wexler is calling for a congressional investigation into State Farm, the state's largest private property insurer, following its request to boost policy rates an average of 47 percent.

"These requested rate hikes are unacceptable and are not consistent with the realities of the conditions in Florida," the Boca Raton Democrat said, adding that the "improper request...warrants an immediate investigation by Congress into possible abusive business practices."

Wexler notes the rate hike request comes even as Florida over the past 2 years has been spared a major hurricane.
