Ever eager to court South Florida's influential Jewish community, Barack Obama made a surprise stop Tuesday at Hollywood's Deli Den, ordering whitefish, nova and some bagels -- with the assistance of Reps. Robert Wexler and Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
Wexler -- Obama's biggest champion in the Jewish community -- insisted Obama didn't need his help ordering, though he did appear a bit shaky when he asked for "whitefish."
"Whitefish salad?" Wasserman Schultz clarified. "Of course," Obama said, "Like we need a whole fish."
He also threw in a few latkes and told Wasserman Schultz he'd get a couple of oatmeal raisin cookies, "a great Jewish tradition," he joked.
"Yes," Wasserman Schultz said, laughing. "Growing up we had so many of them." Wexler suggested a few black and white cookies for the road.
"Now that's a tradition," Obama replied. "It's a unity cookie."
