Inspired by Barack Obama's "spread the wealth around" comment to "Joe the Plumber," the John McCain campaign has been casting about for the right way to capitalize on the issue. Now, maybe, the campaign has turned a corner with its newly announced bus tour for Ormond Beach and Sarasota. Forget the Straight Talk Express, this is called the "Keep Your Wealth" tour.
McCain has a little to celebrate these days in Florida. Gov. Charlie Crist looks like he's ready to do some more stumpin' after a cool period, and McCain looks like he's ticking up in the Florida polls.
Former state GOP political director Jaimie Miller said the good news all along about the polls is that they show Obama "hasn't sealed the deal with voters" and that McCain could easily take the undecided vote. The bad news: The McCain campaign itself.
"It's sad when some guy named 'Joe the Plumber' comes up with a better message for the McCain campaign than the McCain campaign," Miller said.
