Shane Strum takes job with Keiser U

Shane Strum, the chief of staff for former Gov. Charlie Crist who has stayed on to help with Gov. Rick Scott's transition, has been named vice chancellor of business development at Keiser University. Here's the school's release:

Keiser University named Shane Strum as the Associate Vice Chancellor of Business Development.  Strum comes to Keiser University with more than 15 years of successful experience in the public and private sector. He most recently served as transition advisor in the administration of Florida Governor Rick Scott, and as the Chief of Staff to Florida Governor Charlie Crist.

“Shane’s past accomplishments at a private university and his public policy experience are a perfect combination,” said Vice Chancellor Belinda Keiser. “At Keiser University, we have a long standing commitment to developing and identifying the talent necessary for Florida to compete globally.  His skills and expertise will be an incredible addition to our innovative team and their dedication to serving students and producing workforce ready graduates.  We are proud to welcome him back to Broward County.”

As Associate Vice Chancellor of Business Development, Strum will lead the effort to expand Keiser University’s private sector partnerships furthering the university’s vision that an inclusive approach to higher education, guided by the needs of workforce and economic development, is best for students and Florida’s businesses. These strategic alliances help Keiser University stay on the cutting edge in their mission to prepare students for successful careers in high demand fields.    “An educated workforce is vital to attracting high tech and high wage jobs to Florida,” said Strum. “I look forward to advancing the excellent work of Keiser University. About Shane Strum

Shane Strum was the Chief of Staff to Governor Charlie Crist.  Prior to working in the Governor’s office Strum directed new business development for seven years at Blue Frog Solutions, Inc., a Pompano Beach-based finance and insurance technology firm.  From 1995 to 2000, Strum served as the Director of Corporate and Government Affairs for Nova Southeastern University’s Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Alabama and a master’s degree in business administration from Nova Southeastern University.
