Ex-Broward School Board member Stephanie Kraft loves parades, wants to be on committee

Stephanie Kraft, the former Broward School Board member fighting a slew of bribery and misconduct charges, still wants to take part in her city government.

Kraft applied earlier this year to be appointed to the Holiday Parade Committee of the city of Coral Springs. Her husband, Mitch, submitted an application for the city’s Customer Involved Government Committee. The city commission will consider the applications at a meeting Tuesday night, as first reported on Bob Norman's Blog.

Kraft and her husband, both attorneys, were each charged in October in relation to a 2007 project where the couple allegedly helped a father-son developer team get a $500,00 break on fees owed to the school district. The Krafts have pleaded not guilty.

In her parade committee application, Kraft emphasized her longtime ties to, well, parades.

“I love a parade!” Kraft wrote. “I have attended parades my whole life. I have been in parades, as a Brownie, a flag twirler, and as a board member.” Later, she added, “I love the marching bands!”

Her husband kept his one-line application statement brief. “I would like to be of service to the city,” he wrote.

Attached to both applications: a criminal background check from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. (Read them here and here.)
