Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., is adding a new face to his Senate communications team -- a second Alex, no less. Alex Conant will join Rubio's team as press secretary on Oct. 3, said Rubio's communications director, Alex Burgos.
Conant spent the last two years advising former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, and serving as Pawlenty's national press secretary for his presidential campaign. Conant previously worked in the U.S. Senate as a spokesman for U.S. Senator John Thune, R-S.D. He also served as a regional White House spokesman during former President George W. Bush's administration, and as a spokesman for the Republican National Committee.
Conant is "a great addition that will help keep Floridians informed about the important work we're doing on their behalf," Rubio said in a statement.
