FreedomWorks For America, a PAC supporting Adam Hasner in Florida's U.S. Senate race, has produced palm cards linking George LeMieux to Charlie Crist and unpopular policies among Republicans, such as the stimulus. Distribution will begin during a tea party convention early next month in Daytona Beach, an official said.
As an interim senator, LeMieux said he would not have voted for the stimulus, the earliest sign he was trying to distance himself from Crist. FreedomWorks cites thisvideo where LeMieux touts the billions Florida would receive. LeMieux was careful how he described the deal, saying in a second video that the "proof will be in the pudding" whether it's a success or not. So while there may be wiggle room, LeMieux's tight connections to Crist are problematic for his campaign.
It's worth noting that while Hasner and other Florida lawmakers trashed the stimulus as a policy, they voted for state budgets that include the very billions that LeMieux said would help.
