Monday: Things to watch in Tallahassee

Come Monday, it will be all right.

A very quiet Monday marks the 35th day of the 2015 legislative session, which is also the start of Week 6 of the nine-week sprint to Sine Die on May 1.

The sleepy start is due largely to extended observances of the religious holidays of Passover and Easter -- and allows hoops fans to watch Mondaynight's college basketball championship game without legislative distractions.

Come Tuesday, things will pick up: Jimmy Buffett, guitar in hand, will sing at an Everglades Day rally on the steps of the Old Capitol, joined by Mac McAnally and Robert Greenidge.

Three new lawmakers will soon be arriving, too.  On Tuesday, voters in special elections in and around Jacksonville will elect a new senator and two House members (to replace the House members who ran for the Senate). All three winners are expected to be Republicans.
