Republicans will keep Miami-based Spanish-TV network Telemundo as an upcoming presidential debate host. But Telemundo parent organization NBC News will no longer take part in the event.
The Republican National Committee announced the decision Monday for its debate in Houston. CNN will replace NBC, and the event will now take place Feb. 25 instead of Feb. 26.
"The RNC is ensuring the partnership with Telemundo and conservative partners National Review and Salem Communications will continue as planned," GOP Chairman Reince Priebus said in a statement.
Had Telemundo also been forced out, Republicans would have had no Hispanic media involvement in any of its debates.
The RNC punished NBC after a CNBC debate in which candidates judged moderators' questions unfair.
An earlier version of this post misidentified the date of the debate.
