Relying on small donors, Alan Grayson raises $1 million in Senate primary

U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Orlando, raised just over $1 million this quarter, his Senate campaign announced Friday.

As in previous quarters, the Grayson campaign touted large numbers of online donors contributing to its total: $850,000 came from online donations with an average of $18.16 per transaction, the campaign said.

Grayson's haul is significantly smaller than his main rival in the Aug. 30 Democratic Senate primary, U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Jupiter. Murphy announced last week that he raised $2.4 million in the same time period.
