Florida's CFO Atwater backs Blaise Ingoglia for 2nd term as state GOP leader

Republican Party of Florida chairman Blaise Ingoglia continues to roll out big name endorsements to support his bid for another term as the GOP's state leader.

On Wednesday, Ingoglia announced that Florida's elected Chief Financial Officer, Jeff Atwater had endorsed him. Atwater, a Palm Beach Republican, has been the state's CFO since 2010 and prior to that was the president of the Florida Senate.

"The grassroots of our party should elect our Chairman. I don't tell the grassroots how to vote," Atwater said.  "But, I have a responsibility to tell the grassroots who I am voting for to Chair our Party. We need a fierce competitior who never blinks, works harder than anyone else, who is a relentless supporter of local parties, who will walk door-to-door, work the phones and never forget that the road to victory runs through the engine of our extraordinary grassroots leaders all across Florida...that's why I'm voting for Blaise Ingoglia!"

Ingoglia, besides being party leader, is a state representative from Hernando County. He is being challenged by Sarasota Republican state committeeman Christian Ziegler.

Last week U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio endorsed Ingoglia. And before that seven members of Congress from Florida and four soon-to-be members threw their support to Ingoglia.
