Miami Beach could potentially host the 2020 Democratic National Convention.
The DNC sent the city a request for proposal April 26, city spokeswoman Melissa Berthier confirmed Thursday. Seven other cities received the same request, according to NBCNews.
“We were short-listed,” Berthier said. “We haven’t submitted anything just yet.”
IThe city hosted both the 1972 Democratic and Republican conventions, but hasn’t hosted the event for either party since. The city is in the middle of a $615 million upgrade of its convention center expected to be completed later this year.
