Davone Bess Good Samaritan!

This morning on the Jorge Sedano Show on 790 The Ticket we had Dolphins WR Davone Bess stop by for an interview. During the interview he witnessed an accident and did his good deed for the day.

He was kind enough to call back and you just heard what he witnessed.

(For those who don't get radio, the clip you heard was edited to sound as if he was only gone a few seconds. In reality he was gone for a few minutes)

Later today, I got a chance to catch up with him at the Dolphins Training Facility and get a few more details to the story.

"Man, it was crazy. I was on the phone with you & I saw the truck swerving. Then, he just flipped over 3 times.

That's when I stopped & went to see of he was O.K. I saw he got out of the truck and was walking and saw he was cool.

There were a lot of other people there too to make sure everything was ok."

Bess' story is well known in South Florida. He was a troubled youth who had a brush with the law and made the most of his second chance.

Armando Salguero had an excellent story about this last year.

In a world where the negative stories regarding athletes steal all the headlines, here's to one of the GOOD GUYS!

Nice Job Davone!

The guy in the truck was probably listening to the Garret Wittles interview on the Joe Rose show...

That's the type of guy I want in my huddle

Was anyone else disgusted with the way that Jorge Sedano handled that interview? Bess was telling him that he needed to get off the phone to call 911 (obviously implying that he had just witnessed what he believed at the time to be an emergency...fortunately it turned out okay), and Sedano seemed to think that was a good time to play 20 questions and sing praises for Bess. Here's an idea...let him off the phone to be that good samaritan that you are praising him to be, and play 20 questions when he calls back, which he said he would! Absolutely disgusting!

Dolphins Bill,

You realize that the clip you heard in the blog was cut up to sound as if he came back 30 seconds later. He actually called back minutes later. You should understand the context of the situation before you call anyone disgusting.
