The 2014 South Florida High School Business Plan Competition to benefit the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship was recently held at Ransom Everglades and the team of Ryan Amoils and Alvero Ortega from Miami Country Day brought home first place. The Ransom team of Amin Gulamali, Kevin Hoffer-Hawlik, and Spencer Hamersmith came in second.
The inaugural competition amongst private schools in South Florida was a warm up for the Miami Herald Business Plan Challenge and raised money for and awareness of NFTE’s mission to help provide students from low income communities with entrepreneurship education and training. Each year, thousands of students in Miami-Dade and Broward County Schools compete in NFTE business plan competitions that eventually lead to the NFTE national finals in New York.
More than 65 student teams from South Florida entered this year's Miami Herald Business Plan Challenge High School Track. Semifinalists will be announced APril 21 and winners will be announced May 19. Stay tuned!
